A "Less Pressure" Performance Opportunity!

by Piano Teacher Kim
(Port Angeles, WA)

Hi everyone, it's Kim (the teacher behind this site).

On my stage fright page, I talk about the importance of getting out there and performing, even if it's chopsticks on a keyboard at the local music store.

I know many adult beginners have such a hard time doing that! Or even finding opportunities. So here's an idea for you. Not only can you "perform" - but meet other adult beginners and have plenty of chances to do-over in case you need it.

What's the idea? Online piano recitals!

You record yourself playing (plenty of chances for do-overs) and then upload your recording to an online recital!

Where and how do you do this?

First, you need to join the best piano forums out there: the forums at Piano World. Then go to the Adult Beginners forum.

In that forum, you'll see links to the most recent recital thread. Browse around in there and see what others are up to! Don't be intimidated - there will be some more advanced players than you, but ANYONE can participate.

You will meet some great people, and plenty of folks are there to help you get the hang of the process of recording and uploading and all the technology stuff.

GREAT performance opportunity with ZERO PRESSURE! How's that for helping overcome your stage fright?

Fabulous Idea! NEW
by: Gloria

Kim, what a really great idea about performing "in front of others" online. I would think adults would especially be willing to "start" with this type of "recital."

It's good that you are spreading this information.

I took most of my piano lessons in my 20's through a junior college. I can't remember if we had a recital or not. I'll bet not or else I would have remembered! :)
